In a significant change at one of the biggest companies in the world in food delivery and fast commerce, Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Eternal Group (originally known as Zomato Ltd., which is now an Eternal Ltd.), has announced that he will leave his executive position as of February 1, 2026. Albinder Singh Dhindsa, who heads the Quick Capon delivery segment under the Blinkit brand, will replace Goyal as Group CEO.
Goyal, who launched Zomato in 2008 with a focus on restaurant discovery and reviews before expanding into delivery and later acquiring Blinkit, said in a letter to shareholders that the transition will allow Eternal to maintain operational focus while he pursues “higher-risk exploration and experimentation” outside the constraints of leading a publicly listed company.
Under Dhindsa’s leadership, Blinkit has become one of Eternal’s most significant growth drivers, achieving break-even operating performance and contributing a majorityof revenue after its acquisition. Dhindsa, an IIT-Delhi graduate who founded Blinkit (formerly Grofers), will now take charge of day-to-day execution, business decisions, and operating priorities across Eternal’s portfolio, which includes food delivery, quick commerce, and other digital services.
Goyal will continue to work with the business in the position of Vice-Chairman and a board member, concentrating on strategy, culture, leadership development and for continuing governance, contingent upon obtaining the consent of shareholders. Eternal has reported Y-o-Y increases in revenue and profitability in the last quarter, as it continues to develop its leadership amid the company’s growing fundamentals.
The transition of leadership at Eternal indicates a shift in the technology of food and commerce and, in particular, operational leadership, away from traditional segments and toward high-velocity, scalable segments (i.e., quick commerce). Eternal now has Dhindsa on board, and is thus concentrating its efforts on rapidly expanding its delivery capabilities and service offerings, positioning Eternal as a global competitor with similar companies offering digital services for food and grocery delivery.
