Michelin-starred Chef Rohit Ghai is returning to India to launch his first restaurant in the country, an elevated, contemporary Indian dining experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore, scheduled to open later this month. This marks a significant homecoming for one of the UK’s leading Indian culinary talents.

A graduate of IHM Pusa, Ghai built his global reputation through celebrated London concepts like Kutir, Manthan, and Vatavaran, as well as acclaimed international projects including Aangan at Shangri-La Oman and Rivayat at The Oberoi Marrakech. Together with his two cookbooks—Tarkari and Yatra—he reflects a modern, boundary-crossing vision of Indian gastronomy.

Told from the heart:

ā€œIt took me 18 years to get to where I am today and this project is something that is very close to my heart,ā€ Ghai shared with ETHospitalityWorld.

He revealed that The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore approached him with the idea of a signature fine-dining Indian restaurant, and he saw alignment in values and long-term vision, making the brand his first choice for debut in India.

The forthcoming restaurant will fully reimagine the space previously occupied by ā€œRiwaz.ā€ According to Ghai, the menu will blend traditional Indian recipes with modern techniques and seasonal local produce, sophisticated yet rooted in authenticity. A la carte will anchor the launch, with tasting menus to follow once the skilled team of eight chefs is fully in place.

With global pedigree and a deeply personal vision, Rohit Ghai’s opening at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore promises to elevate the culinary curve in India.
