KFC India is expanding its Kshamata inclusion initiative by introducing a 50-hour virtual English comprehension program tailored for its speech and hearing-impaired (SHI) team members. The aim: to train 100% of KFCās SHI workforce by 2026 in written English skills like grammar, reading comprehension, and email writing.
The company has partnered with Atypical Advantage, a livelihood platform for persons with disabilities, to develop the curriculum and deliver the training. This new program is meant to complement KFCās earlier step in 2024, making them the first QSR in India to roll out Indian Sign Language (ISL) training for all employees.
Aman Lal, Chief People Officer, KFC India, said, as noted by ET Hospitality:
āCommunication is key to bridging the ability gap ⦠the written English comprehension program will lower barriers to communication & equip our SHI teams with tools to navigate workplace communication independently.ā
From Vineet Saraiwala, Founder & CEO of Atypical Advantage:
āTrue inclusion begins when persons with disabilities are equipped with tools to thrive independently ⦠this partnership is a landmark step towards unlocking the potential of SHI talent by building their confidence in written English.ā
With this step, KFC India reinforces its position as a leader in fostering true workplace inclusion in the countryās QSR industry.
