In an aggressive international expansion move that signals the rapid globalization of American fast-casual concepts, Dave’s Hot Chicken has finalized an ambitious agreement with UK-based Azzurri Group to develop 180 restaurants across 10 European countries, representing one of the most significant single-market expansion deals in the hot chicken category.

The Los Angeles-based fast-casual chain announced the comprehensive European development agreement this week, targeting France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Italy, and Turkey. The deal leverages a joint venture partnership model that includes local operators in each market, providing the operational flexibility crucial for navigating diverse European regulatory and consumer landscapes.

The deal builds on the success of Dave’s Hot Chicken’s UK debut, which launched in late 2024 with a flagship location on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End. The first British restaurant opened on December 7, 2024, with subsequent launches in Manchester and Birmingham, demonstrating the brand’s ability to resonate with European consumers.

Azzurri Group has secured exclusive development rights to expand Dave’s Hot Chicken across Europe, building upon their existing relationship. The Azzurri Group already has a deal to develop 60 locations of the fast-casual chicken chain in the UK and Ireland, creating operational synergies for the expanded European rollout.

Dave’s Hot Chicken’s European strategy leverages the concept’s authentic Nashville-style positioning while adapting to local market preferences and regulatory requirements. The brand’s success in London, a notoriously challenging market for American restaurant concepts, provides validation for European expansion strategies built on authentic American culinary experiences.

Further openings in Stevenage and Westfield White City are planned in the coming months, indicating continued UK market development alongside the broader European expansion. This dual-track approach suggests confidence in both market-specific optimization and broader regional scalability.

The 180-unit European commitment positions Dave’s Hot Chicken as a significant player in the evolving landscape of international fast-casual development, with implications extending well beyond the hot chicken category.
