The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) has launched The Saudi Table, an immersive culinary residency in Delhi-NCR, designed to introduce Indian diners to Saudi Arabia’s rich and evolving food culture through a curated gastronomic experience by celebrated Indian chef Kunal Kapur.
The initiative is presented under the STA’s consumer brand “Saudi, Welcome to Arabia” and takes place at One8 Commune, Gurugram, where diners are invited to explore the depth and diversity of Saudi cuisine, from ancient traditions to modern interpretations, in a setting that highlights communal dining and cultural storytelling.
Curated by Chef Kunal Kapur, known for his expertise in cross-cultural cuisine and popular television presence in India, The Saudi Table goes beyond a typical tasting menu. Kapur’s curation reflects Saudi Arabia’s regional culinary identities, drawing on influences from coastal Hijaz dishes to inland trade-city flavours, while emphasising shared hospitality values that resonate with Indian guests.
In previews and press interactions, Chef Kapur described the experience as rooted in hospitality and heritage, noting parallels between Saudi traditions of generosity (known locally as “Hafawa”) and India’s cultural ethos of Atithi Devo Bhavah, “the guest is God.” This shared value forms a meaningful backdrop for the residency, which blends cuisine with cultural narrative.
Guests enjoy a variety of shared plates that showcase everything from mezze and salads to iconic dishes like kabsa and lamb mansaf, all designed to reflect the Kingdom’s historical spice routes, maritime trade heritage, and communal dining practices.
The Saudi Table also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to strengthen cultural tourism connections with India, one of its key source markets. This culinary residency follows other STA engagements in India, including large-scale cultural events like Spectacular Saudi that drew hundreds of thousands of visitors across multiple cities earlier this year.
In addition to the dining experience, the STA has tied in culinary-focused travel packages aimed at Indian travellers who want to explore Saudi Arabia through its gastronomy, an emerging trend in global tourism where food acts as both an attraction and an ambassador for destination culture.
