In a proud moment for India’s culinary landscape, two Indian pizzerias—Da Susy and Leo’s Pizzeria, both based in the Delhi NCR region—have secured coveted spots on the World’s 100 Best Pizzerias for 2025 list, released last month by The Best Pizza Awards in Milan.
Da Susy, located in Gurugram, ranked #71, while Leo’s Pizzeria in New Delhi secured #99, marking a significant step forward for India’s artisan pizza scene on the global stage. The annual list, curated by a global panel of 512 pizza experts across 60 countries, is regarded as one of the most prestigious recognitions in the international pizza industry.
Local Artistry Meets Global Acclaim
Da Susy was founded in 2021 by Chef Susanna Di Cosimo, a Naples-born pizzaiola who brought traditional Neapolitan methods to Indian soil. With its airy, charred crusts and use of certified Italian ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes and Fior di Latte mozzarella, Da Susy has become a standout name in NCR’s premium pizzeria circuit. The brand currently operates two outlets in Gurugram.
Meanwhile, Leo’s Pizzeria, launched in 2016, has cultivated a loyal following through its consistently high-quality sourdough pizzas, stripped-down menu, and relaxed neighbourhood setting. The pizzeria, led by Chef Amol Kumar, has grown into a multi-outlet presence across Delhi and has become synonymous with the capital’s pizza renaissance.
Both brands were previously recognised in the Asia-Pacific Top 50 Pizzerias list, with Da Susy ranked 17th and Leo’s at 41st, setting the stage for their elevation to the global list.
How the Rankings Work
The World’s 100 Best Pizzerias list is compiled by The Best Pizza Awards, an initiative by the team behind The Best Chef Awards. The rankings are based on in-person, anonymous visits by an international jury of chefs, critics, and food journalists. Evaluations cover dough quality, topping combinations, service, beverage programs, and overall dining experience.
This year’s winners were announced at a formal ceremony in Milan on June 25, 2025. Italy dominated the top ten, with I Masanielli in Caserta taking the top spot, followed by Pepe in Grani and Pizzarium in Rome.
The inclusion of Indian pizzerias among such celebrated names signals the rising international credibility of India’s evolving food and beverage ecosystem.
India’s Pizza Evolution, on a Global Plate
India’s inclusion in The Best Pizza Awards is a timely reminder of how far the country’s independent F&B ventures have come. With the right mix of craftsmanship, consistency, and customer loyalty, Indian operators are now charting global paths from hyperlocal beginnings.
As the world continues to look beyond traditional pizza strongholds, Indian pizzerias are proving they’re ready to compete—not just on taste, but on the full dining experience.
