Restaurant brands are increasingly treating technology as a core business function rather than a support service, and Crumbl has taken another step in that direction by appointing its first-ever Chief Technology Officer.

According to Crumbl’s official announcement, the fast-growing dessert chain has named Sunder Ramachandran as Chief Technology Officer. The newly created executive role reflects the company’s growing investment in digital infrastructure as it scales operations across North America and international markets.

Ramachandran joins Crumbl with more than two decades of technology leadership experience spanning digital transformation, enterprise platforms, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence and customer-facing technology. Before joining Crumbl, he held senior technology leadership positions across consumer-facing businesses where he led large-scale modernization initiatives and enterprise digital strategies.

The appointment comes during a period of rapid expansion for Crumbl.

Founded in Utah in 2017, the company has become one of the fastest-growing dessert concepts globally. Operating through a franchise model, Crumbl has expanded to more than 1,100 locations across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, with new international markets also being added to its growth pipeline. The brand is known for its rotating weekly cookie menu, digital-first ordering experience and strong social media presence that has helped it build one of the industry’s most engaged customer communities.

For restaurant leaders, the appointment reflects a much broader shift taking place across foodservice.

Chief technology officers are increasingly becoming part of executive leadership teams as restaurant businesses rely more heavily on digital ordering, loyalty ecosystems, AI-powered analytics, cloud-native operations and integrated franchise management platforms.

Technology is no longer viewed simply as an operational necessity.

It has become a primary driver of guest experience, revenue generation and operational efficiency. Mobile ordering, personalization engines, predictive inventory systems, kitchen automation and real-time analytics are increasingly influencing how restaurants compete in both mature and emerging markets.
