Let’s be honest – airplane food has never been anyone’s idea of a good meal. And yet somehow a restaurant built entirely around the idea of eating on a plane has become one of Delhi’s most genuinely fun dining experiences. That contradiction is exactly what makes Runway 1 worth talking about.
For the context, Runway 1 is built inside a full-sized aircraft that flew commercially for 15 years before it was grounded, gutted, and turned into a restaurant.
Now, the interesting part: while most aviation-themed spaces stop at décor, this one takes it a step further. The fuselage, the aisle width, the window alignment, for example, all of it is real, and that scale is what actually separates Runway 1 from any other themed café with some props on the walls. Take in its boarding-style entry, the way you move through the cabin, or even how you are seated, and it all echoes the rhythm of boarding a flight.

The restaurant seats up to 100 people inside the cabin, and if you want, you can sit on the wing.
The setting does a lot of the work before the food even arrives. The plane is surrounded by water on all sides, with manicured lawns stretching out beyond it and lights that, at night, make the whole thing feel almost surreal. You look out the window, and instead of tarmac, you see still water and green.
That contrast is intentional. It softens what could have felt claustrophobic and turns it into something almost cinematic, almost closer to a resort.
It is the kind of place that takes a moment to fully register, and most visitors describe it as feeling like it doesn’t quite belong to Delhi at all.

Then comes the menu. It covers Indian, Continental, and Chinese, with dishes like Daal Makhani, paneer, cheesy chicken burgers, sandwiches, fries, and pizza, along with shakes and fresh drinks. People who have been there tend to talk specifically about the starters and platters, and the drinks are mentioned a lot, too. For a place that could easily get away with coasting on the concept, the food holds its own.
One of the reviews on Wanderlog says: “I love the ambiance, food, and their services as well. All the shakes and drinks are very fresh and tempting. I enjoyed each and every starter and platter.”
Kids get access to the cockpit and interactive 3D games, which means families tend to have a genuinely relaxed time here. There is also enough of an atmosphere that it works well for dates, birthday parties, and corporate events.
The entry fee is Rs. 200 for adults and Rs. 100 for children between 5 and 10, and it gets adjusted into the final bill, so the meal for two works out to around Rs. 1,000 all in.
