Levain Bakery is moving to a dual-CEO structure, promoting longtime executives Lorna Sommerville and Taya Stenson to jointly lead the New York-founded bakery as it continues its national expansion.
The appointments replace John Maguire, who will move to Levain’s board in October after three and a half years as CEO. Sommerville and Stenson bring complementary commercial and operational experience to the top roles.
Sommerville has spent nearly a decade at Coca-Cola and later joined Levain, where she most recently served as Chief Commercial Officer. Her responsibilities included marketing, innovation, new-store design, customer experience and e-commerce.
Stenson spent approximately 20 years at Starbucks before joining Levain as Chief Operating Officer, where she helped build the operational infrastructure supporting the bakery’s expansion across the country.
Together, the two executives have helped Levain evolve from a small Northeastern bakery chain into a national brand.
