Coca-Cola India is preparing to enter the country’s emerging zero-caffeine soft drinks segment with the introduction of Coke Zero Caffeine Zero Sugar, extending a product that has already been launched across several international markets.

According to The Economic Times Hospitality, the company plans to introduce the new variant as consumer demand continues shifting toward low- and no-sugar beverages, functional drinks and greater product choice. The move represents Coca-Cola India’s latest effort to diversify its beverage portfolio while responding to evolving health-conscious consumption trends.

The product combines two growing consumer preferences—zero sugar and zero caffeine—within Coca-Cola’s flagship brand architecture. While Coca-Cola Zero Sugar has established a strong presence globally, the caffeine-free version has until now been available only in select international markets, including the United States, Canada, Australia and parts of Europe.

The India launch reflects broader changes across the global beverage industry.

Major soft drink manufacturers are increasingly investing in reduced-sugar, sugar-free and functional beverage categories as consumers seek healthier alternatives without sacrificing familiar flavors. Product innovation has become particularly important as governments introduce nutrition-focused regulations and public awareness around sugar consumption continues to rise.

For Coca-Cola, expanding its zero-sugar portfolio aligns with the company’s global strategy of offering beverages “for every occasion and lifestyle.”

The company has steadily broadened its low- and no-calorie portfolio through brands such as Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, Sprite Zero Sugar and other reduced-sugar offerings across international markets. The addition of a caffeine-free variant allows the company to target consumers who enjoy cola beverages but prefer to avoid stimulants, particularly during evening consumption.

India has become one of Coca-Cola’s most important growth markets.

The company has continued investing in manufacturing capacity, cold-chain infrastructure, sustainability initiatives and product innovation as disposable incomes rise and modern retail expands. Its beverage portfolio spans carbonated soft drinks, juices, hydration beverages, dairy-based drinks and packaged water, serving both retail and foodservice channels.
