Chipotle Mexican Grill is piloting a new food-safety risk management platform developed with Palantir, using data from across its restaurant system to give its food-safety teams a more centralized view of potential risks.

The pilot runs on Palantir’s Foundry platform and is designed to bring multiple food-safety signals together, including health-department inspection information, pest incidents and employee illness reports. The system can then help identify trends and assess the relative risk of individual restaurants, according to reporting by WIRED and Nation’s Restaurant News.

Chipotle confirmed the pilot in a statement to NRN. Laurie Schalow, the company’s chief corporate affairs and food safety officer, said the platform is intended to provide a “more consistent and centralized view of food safety risk” across the restaurant system and enable teams to identify trends, prioritise follow-up and make more proactive, data-informed decisions.
