Deliveroo has launched free nationwide delivery across Kuwait, marking a significant escalation in the Gulf region’s increasingly competitive food delivery market.
The initiative, announced by Deliveroo Kuwait and reported by Caterer Middle East, allows customers across all six governorates to order from participating restaurants without paying delivery fees, regardless of distance.
The move underscores a broader shift taking place across the global delivery ecosystem: platforms are moving beyond geographic expansion and focusing instead on increasing order frequency, customer retention, and platform loyalty.
Kuwait has emerged as one of the Gulf’s most dynamic food delivery markets.
High smartphone penetration, strong digital payment adoption, and a young, convenience-driven consumer base have accelerated the shift toward app-based ordering. According to data from research firm Statista, online food delivery revenue in the Middle East is expected to continue growing steadily through 2030, with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets leading adoption rates.
That growth has intensified competition among delivery players.
Regional and international platforms, including Talabat, Jahez, and Deliveroo, are increasingly differentiating through subscription models, loyalty programs, exclusive restaurant partnerships, and value-led offerings.
By removing distance-based delivery fees, Deliveroo aims to broaden consumer choice while encouraging customers to order from restaurants outside their immediate neighborhoods. The strategy could also help smaller or destination-driven restaurants expand their reach without investing in their own logistics infrastructure.
